Swim Lesson Levels & Programs in Colorado Springs

PPA offers a progressive learn-to-swim program for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, children, teens, and adults. We place swimmers by age and current ability so beginners can start with comfort and water safety, then progress to independent swimming, strokes, endurance, and advanced technique.

Our swim lesson program follows a carefully designed curriculum that meets every swimmer at their current skill level and grows their abilities through safe, fun, and structured learning. We don’t believe in "sink or swim" fear tactics — we believe in building swimmers for life.

Individuals are placed in classes based on both age and skill. Answer the Find My Level questions to see which level your child should be enrolled in for any of our group lesson offerings.

A Curriculum Designed for Growth and Confidence

Safety First: Focus on water safety skills from the start.

Baby, Toddler & Preschool Swim Lessons

Families looking for beginner swim lessons can start with Water Babies, PLittle, or Little Pikes 1 depending on age, comfort, and current skill. These levels focus on building comfort, independence, water safety habits, and foundational swimming skills without aggressive survival methods.

Water Babies is for ages 6 months to 3 years and provides a positive introduction to the water with a parent or other adult in the pool. Songs, games, and age-appropriate instruction help children build comfort and begin developing water skills when they are ready.

PLittle is designed for ages 2 to 3 and focuses on building comfort and safety in the water without a parent in the pool.

Little Pikes 2
This level introduces all 4 competitive strokes and builds comfort in the deep end. Swimmers will learn correct, efficient technique as they learn freestyle, backstroke, and the kicks for breaststroke and butterfly.

Little Pikes 3

Swimmers will learn how to put arms and kick together for breaststroke and butterfly while working toward swimming full laps of all strokes. After completing this level, swimmers will be prepared for our Base Camp Swim Team (pre-competitive).

Base Camp (pre-swim team)

The goal of this class is to provide a positive learning environment for early swimmers who have an interest in swim team but aren’t sure if they are ready for the full commitment of swim team or need additional help with their endurance and technique.
