Is Spring Break Swim Camp Worth It?
Spring break fills up quickly with activities, family time, and unstructured days. For many Colorado Springs parents, it also raises a familiar question: Is there something more structured and worthwhile that my child could be doing this week?
For families with swimmers, spring break camp may be the most effective week of instruction their child gets all year.
Why does one week of camp make such a big difference?
One week of structured Swim Camp gives your child more focused instruction time than most swimmers get in two months of weekly lessons. That concentration of time matters because swimming is a motor skill. Repetition, correction, and consistency are what lead to real improvement.
When swimmers practice five days in a row, instructors can correct something on Monday, reinforce it Tuesday, build on it Wednesday, and see it come together by Friday. The progress often feels more noticeable simply because the practice is consistent and connected.
At Pikes Peak Athletics, sessions are organized by skill level and led by instructors who use a consistent curriculum throughout the week. By the end of camp, many families see clearer technique, better endurance, and increased confidence in the water.
What does spring break swim camp actually look like day to day?
Spring break swim camp at PPA is structured and intentional. It is not free swim or open play time.
Each session includes warm-ups, skill progressions, focused instruction, and purposeful practice designed to move swimmers forward. Skills build throughout the week, so swimmers aren’t just practicing- they’re progressing.
Kids who attend camp consistently often head into summer feeling more prepared and more confident than those who just take lessons seasonally.
Who is Spring Break Swim Camp designed for?
Camp is designed for swimmers at any skill level between the ages of 4 and 12. Whether your child is building foundational water safety skills or working on competitive stroke development, sessions are structured to meet them where they are. Swimmers are grouped by ability, not age, so every child is working at the right level of challenge.
How much does spring break swim camp cost at PPA?
Tuition is $80 per day. Families can register for one day or the full week, depending on their schedule. The full five-day week is $400. There is no penalty for registering for fewer days, making it flexible for families with partial spring break availability.
Are afternoon spots still available?
The afternoon session (12:30 pm to 4:30 pm) still has openings at the Training Center, but availability is limited and closing quickly. Wednesday has the fewest spots remaining. If the afternoon session works for your family, registering sooner rather than later is the right move.
